Australian Cocktail and Flair Championships Competition Information

Tuesday 27th June 2017 will see over 30 competitors compete in the Australian Cocktail and Flair Championships. The event is brought to you by the ABG (Australian Bartenders Guild) and will once again be held at the iconic Luna Park, Sydney.
First up, attendees can look forward to The Australian Cocktail Championships.
Participating bartenders will have an initial fifteen minutes to prepare their garnishes and fruits.
Once this prep is ready, they will have one minute to sell their cocktail and explain the inspiration and reasoning behind the drink to the esteemed judging panel.
Bartenders then have seven minutes to complete five cocktails with three used for judging, one for display and the final one for tasting.
The classic mixology creations will finish by 3pm, immediately followed by the Flair Championships.
Five finalists chosen from previous competitions in the year will be hand selected and invited to battle it out to take on this year’s title.
Each competitor has an initial ten minutes to prepare their garnishes and fruits.
Once this prep is ready, they will have five minutes to create three cocktails in the form of a flair routine.
The competition will round up at 4:15pm where 2 winners will be announced.
The winners of the mixology and flair competition will not only win the coveted title of ‘Australian Drinks Industry Show Champion’, they will then move on to represent Australia alongside the ‘Australian Bartenders Guild’ at the ‘International Bartenders Associations’ World Cocktail Championships held in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The championships will be held from the 14th-20th October and the winners will have the opportunity to compete against 65 other countries.
Winners will be staying in the highly anticipated ‘Bartenders Village’ and be spoiled with meals, workshops, master classes and drinks throughout the entire duration.
The top 3 bartenders in each category will also win a trophy and Prize kits at The Drinks Industry Show.
